Day 0: Arrival in Arusha
If you require airport transfers or accommodation in Arusha before or after your safari, please let us know so we can make arrangements. Our safari manager will meet you at your lodge or hotel in Arusha the day before or on the morning of your departure for a brief orientation about the safari.
Day 1: Tarangire National Park
After an early breakfast in Arusha, embark on a scenic drive through the Masai Steppe to Tarangire National Park. Upon arrival at the park entrance, your guide will handle the entry process, after which you’ll begin your game drive straight away. Your professional safari guide will take you through the park’s best wildlife-viewing areas, including the Tarangire River, which attracts a variety of animals year-round.
Expect to see large herds of elephants, along with wildebeests, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, and numerous bird species. Lunch will be enjoyed at one of the park’s picturesque picnic sites. After an exciting day of wildlife viewing, you’ll head to the Ngorongoro Highlands, where you’ll spend the night at Migombani Campsite (or a similar location).
Overnight: Migombani Campsite or similar campsite in Karatu
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, continue your safari with a visit to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. First, you’ll check in at the gate before proceeding to the crater rim, where you can pause for photos at the panoramic Crater viewpoint. From there, descend 600 meters to the crater floor, which is known as the “8th Wonder of the World.”
The crater’s rich water and vegetation support a high concentration of wildlife, including wildebeests, buffaloes, elephants, hippos, and the rare black rhino. Ngorongoro is also home to many predators, such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, and jackals. Birdlife is abundant as well, with flocks of flamingos on Lake Magadi, as well as pelicans, ibises, and ostriches. Enjoy a packed lunch within the crater, surrounded by nature and wildlife.
In the late afternoon, you’ll ascend from the crater and return to Arusha, where your safari concludes.
